With CT scanning, radiographic attenuation values that are obtained from a scan are processed by computer to determine the density of each tissue that appears on the scan, and results are shown in the form of a cross sectioned picture on the viewing screen. This technique is useful for delineating pituitary tumours with suprasellar and lateral extensions, as well as with parasellar lesions.
